Pulse of the Nation Redrafts and Such

I got through a pretty significant rewrite of Pulse over the last weekend. Lots of changes, including a new ending, and serious rewrites to a number of key scenes. Really tried to flesh out the script in the last few drafts and make it sing. The plot especially has been shored up significantly, and I am very excited about how it has turned out. I’ve considered turning the script into a play, but the latest draft is more cinematic than play fashionable and though that is still something that I will be considering, I think that will still require some work on my part. Unsure yet what my next step will be? Have thought about trying to find producers or maybe attempting a more traditional agent or festival route. Possibly one more round of rewrites and I’ll likely call it done. Will be nice to start work on the next leg of this journey soon.

Lost my flash drive

I lost my flash drive at the library this afternoon. Can’t seem to find it anywhere. I had just printed out a resume to send out, and for the life of me, I don’t remember picking it back up. When I was going to go out the next day, it just wasn’t in it’s usual place. If anyone on the internet finds it, please let me know. On another note, work went well last night. We got a record, for me anyway, number of photos retouched. They had the kick off meeting last night, and apparently work is starting to pick back up pretty quickly as we move into the spring quarter. Very excited.

New Script and Thoughts on That

So I’ve been working on a new thriller that I’m a little over a quarter of the way through. So far I’ve been very happy with the results, but in the struggle to find the characters, you can often write 25 pages just to keep five pages, so that’s been my process up to this point. The script has a lot of moving pieces, which has made the development of plotting often maddeningly difficult. These are seriously the things I think about when writing a script. I’ve often had other writers recommend to back into the circumstances, so you start with something you can wrap your head around, and then gradually build it out until you have an entire script. I’m not always real consistent about doing that but I try. I’m currently trying to organize the script into blocks, where each block accomplishes some part of the character’s arc and then develops out the plot as we continue to add blocks. Seems to work pretty well to keep the script fairly modular until you get further along. Over the next few days, I’m finishing rewrites for Pulse of the Nation as well before Lifetouch calls me back. I will hopefully try to decide on the next step for that script after that. Anyway, those are my thoughts for today on that.

An Odd Occurrence

Kind of an odd occurrence happened today. As you can see from the picture, there is a half moon showing in the sky at about mid day. 2:30 PM to be exact. And during the 2014 Olympic games no less. Kind of makes me feel like I’m on another planet.

From the net:
The new moon rises and sets together with the Sun. During a lunation of 29.5 days, as the Moon passes through a full cycle of phases, it rises roughly 50 minutes later each night. By first quarter it rises around midday and sets around midnight. When it reaches full it will be up from sunset to sunrise, more or less. And by last quarter it will rise at midnight and set at noon, roughly speaking, before, as it approaches another new moon, its rising and setting times converge again with those of the Sun. www.inconstantmoon.com

A Trip Down Memory Lane

I uncovered some photos of a project I worked on a number of years ago. Alas, the project was never completed. Which is unfortunate, since it was a very ambitious an interesting project. My sister had been working on a short story, which she had submitted to several writing contest, none of which she won, but the story itself was actually quite odd, and we both felt it would have been perfect for an animated interpretation. I worked on the models and designs for the project with my sister for a number of months and the tests were turning out splendidly, but as time progressed, the scope of the project proved to be larger than I had time to tackle at the time, and the project fell by the wayside. Still, a few photos tell a story. Perhaps I’ll post a few more a little later.
